Features that Any Good E-Mail Program Should Have
The bar has really been raised in recent years for e-mail programs. Features that used to be luxuries are now considered minimum standards. When looking for an e-mail package, you should not accept one that does not let you do the following:
- Send and receive both text messages and attached binary files.
- Quote the text of a message when replying to it.
- Send mail to multiple recipients at once, and send CCs (Courtesy Copies).
- Compose and read messages off-line (while not connected to the Internet).
- Save lists of e-mail addresses for future use in an address book.
- Create multiple folders in which to organize incoming and outgoing mail.
- Sort received e-mail by any of several criteria (date received, sender name, file size, etc.)
